La Vegetable Orchestra ha sede a Vienna ed è stata fondata nel 1998; conta 12 musicisti, un ingegnere del suono e un video/light designer.
La formazione si è esibita ormai in tutta Europa e in Asia, e da sempre si dedica anche a workshop sulla realizzazione di questi particolari strumenti e sugli aspetti del suono che li riguardano. L'utilizzo di ogni diverso tipo di vegetale crea infatti un universo sonoro musicalmente ed esteticamente unico.
Non ci sono barriere o restrizioni di alcun tipo nelle scelte musicali della Vegetable Orchestra. Gli stili più diversi sono qui fusi - musica contemporanea, beat-oriented House, Electtronica speriamentale, Free Jazz, Noise, Dub, Clicks'n'Cuts – il loro focus è andato sempre espandendosi, permettendo recentemente di sviluppare nuovi suoni ed effetti, grazie agli strumenti vegetali.
